DIY Rav Moon PVC wall mount.

Those nice Orbis Magneto wall mounts? $120-150. Needing at least two, they’re definitely out of my price range. So I made my own wall mounts out of ½” PVC scraps. To buy the parts, it’s less than $10 per mount. Here’s how to do it.

I think it’s simple enough that you won’t need step-by-step instructions. The parts are all available at your local hardware or plumbing store. In addition to:

  • three 90º elbows
  • two caps

you’ll need:

  • two 5 ½ ” pipes
  • two 8 ½” pipes.

You just glue it all together (as you see in the above photo) with PVC glue. Then let it sit for a few hours before mounting on your wall. I used long drywall screws.

A few tips:

  • Put a Scotch Rubber mounting bumper over any protruding screw so it doesn’t scratch the bottom of your Moon. Felt bumpers work fine too.
  • The ink on PVC pipes usually wipes off with Goof Off if you want to clean them up or paint them .
  • You can also use ¾ inch PVC, which will made the mounts a bit more rigid.

My take.

Rav recommends that you don’t store your Moon in the case. This can trap in moisture and lead to oxidation. So keeping your Rav Moon oiled and on the wall works well for long term care.
